Fiji’s Coalition Government has approved the Board of Visitors Policy for State Administered Aged Care Homes in Labasa, Lautoka and Suva – known as Golden Age Homes.

The Board of Visitors Policy for the State Administered Aged Care Homes will enable the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection to appoint a Board of Visitors for each Home.

The ministry had taken on the responsibility of managing the three State-administered aged-care homes from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services back in 2016.

The appointment of the board will be based on merit, Cabinet stated.

“… And, importantly, to continue with the business of managing and maintaining the existing utility funds that are managed by interim boards,” it stated.

Cabinet made the decision at its third meeting held on Wednesday, February 14 (2024).
