The board of governors for 13 State-owned and run schools which was abolished in 2015 by the FijiFirst administration, will now be brought back.
At a post Cabinet news conference on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced the re-establishment of the board of governors for Delainamasi Government School, Natabua Primary School, Adi Cakobau School, Bucalevu Secondary School, Labasa College, Levuka Public School, Nasinu Secondary School, Natabua High School, Queen Victoria School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Sila Central School, Suva Grammar School and Vunisea Secondary School.
“The role of this board is to provide effective oversight into the management and governance of a Government school,” the PM said.
Mr Rabuka also said Cabinet approved the second amendment to the Grant Agreement (Agreement) with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, in relation to Phase II of the rehabilitation of Queen Victoria School.
“The amendment will extend the duration of Phase II from December 31, 2022 to July 31, 2023.
“Currently, construction is at its finishing stages with the structural shell completed, including installation of roof framing for the school.”
