THE problem of medicine shortage will be addressed in the next national budget, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad.
Prof Prasad said he had received concerns regarding the shortage of essential medicine and assured steps were being taken to resolve the issue.
“Health remains our number one priority,” Prof Prasad said.
“We’ve received a lot of complaints about drug shortages, and we are addressing that.”
During the budget consultation in Labasa, he said these efforts were part of the broader strategy to improve health services across the country.
“These are just some of the things we’ve accomplished in the last two years, and we will continue working on these initiatives in the future.”
As part of resolving the medicine shortage problem in the North, Prof Prasad said a warehouse had been constructed at the Labasa Hospital.
