INTERNATIONAL night games could soon be coming to Govind Park as the Ba Town Council moves to equip the 4R Stadium with high-powered floodlights required to host world-class evening tournaments.
Special Administrators board chairman Moshim Khan confirmed that installing permanent lighting capable of delivering a minimum of 1,500 lux is the council’s top operational objective for the venue.
“At this moment our main priority is to get the permanent floodlight, which meets the 1,500 lux so that we can have international night games,” he said.
While the stadium successfully hosted 14,000 spectators during last year’s Inter-District Championship, Mr Khan said substantial work remains before the facility can consistently attract global events after dark.
“We are trying to improve day by day to give a better facility.
“There is a lot of work left to do to actually meet the requirements of international tournaments.”
To support this shift toward international-grade hosting, the council is planning broader infrastructure additions, including corporate boxes and possibly a potential expansion on the opposite side of the grounds however this is still in the discussion stage.
“It’s not only about the staff and the stadium, everything has to be of international standard.
“Even the food they’re selling has to be compliant with the Food and Safety Act.”
