THE Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) has announced the appointment of former International Labour Organization (ILO) regional development consultant Edward Bernard as its new chief executive officer.
FCEF president Vinay Narsey said the institution was at a pivotal point in its journey and they were thrilled to welcome Mr Benard on board.
“His deep understanding of collaborating with our strategic partners and stakeholders as well as his specialisation and experience in private sector development will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for the interests of businesses and employers across Fiji,” Mr Narsey said.
In his previous role, Mr Benard had spent 15 years with ILO where he was involved in planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting and co-ordinating national and regional programs and projects engaging in policy dialogue with national tripartite partners, managing teams and large budgets.
In his new role, Mr Benard will focus on strengthening FCEF’s advocacy efforts, expanding membership and member services, and promoting best practices within the business community.
“I am honoured to take on this leadership position at FCEF,” Mr Benard said.
“I look forward to working closely with our members, partners, the board and secretariat to drive positive change, enhance the business environment and contribute to economic growth in Fiji.”
His appointment comes into effect from Monday, November 11.
