A DOTING dad was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping his son — after neighbours didn’t recognise him with a new beard.
Torkel Kristoffers, 39, was babysitting his two-year-old son Axel when the little boy asked if he could be carried to a friend’s house in a grocery bag.
But things took a turn for the worst when a concerned neighbour thought Axel was being abducted. The neighbour didn’t recognise Mr Kristoffers, from Stockholm in Sweden, with his beard fully-grown.
The dad is usually clean shaven.
The Independent reported police raided Mr Kristoffer’s home and arrested him. But cops backed off when the surprised father explained there had been a mistake.
A police spokeswoman acknowledged the error, adding: “It is currently not a crime to carry a child around in a bag.”
Mr Kristoffer shared a picture of his hairy face on Facebook after the dramatic incident, with the humorous caption: “When two police cars run into my coffee time, we know that it’s time to shave the beard.”
