The Frank Hilton Organization received a donation of $10,000 from the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP) to help and support the underprivileged children of the community.
BSP head of Internal Audit and staff social engagement Ilaitia Tuinamoala said the bank had been supporting the organisation for about six years, with its contributions growing over time as the company continues to invest in causes that improve the lives of children.
“Every year, we’ve been supporting it. It’s been in our organisation’s vision and values to help the community,” Mr Tuinamoala said.
“We want to give back to the community. It’s probably five or six years; it goes back to the time it started. Maybe in small ways, but we’ve just grown bigger by the year.”
With 13 more days to go before the battle kicks off, Mr Tuinamoala said BSP had already started their preparations and training sessions.
He said the team was preparing well for the battle through its health and wellness program, which had encouraged staff to stay active through regular exercise, training, and participation in corporate sporting events.
He said this initiative also promoted healthy lifestyles while supporting community causes.
“So, we engage in all types of sports and it’s all part of the basic training- running and exercising.
“And we’ve been participating in a lot of business houses as well. We’ve just come out from about two or three business houses and this is another event where we encourage staff to do exercise and training, eat well and sleep well.”
He added the participation was open to all bank staff, with support from the bank’s HR, People and Culture team and employees were encouraged to join the training, walks, or to simply support the event, regardless of their fitness level.
The 10th Bara Battle will be held on July 25 at the Albert Park in Suva.
