ENSURING they retain possession of the ball all the way to the tryline is something Swire Shipping Fijian Drua player Inia Tabuavou feels the team could improve on ahead of their Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific round nine clash against the Highlanders this Saturday.
Tabuavou spoke on this following the team’s 14-31 defeat by the Crusaders at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva last Saturday.
“Just working on the finishing, just having possession when we’re building up to the try line but we’re not finishing (which is) something we will take onto the next game,” Tabuavou said.
Tabuavou was a starter in last Saturday’s match, a departure from being on the bench or as a replacement for starters coming off the field.
He acknowledged the team’s lack of retaining possession during that game.
“We have the possession but we’re not finishing it, but we came into the second half, strong start at the first five minutes of the second half, but we didn’t capitalise and put points,” he added.
In the recent Super Rugby Pacific statistics, it showed the Fijian Drua stood at the bottom of the table with its number of carries, totalling to 807 while the Crusaders amounted to 905.
With the ball in hand, the statistics also showed the Drua could only manage a total of 2,919 metres gained while the Crusaders managed to advance the ball further into the opposition with 3,255m so far.
