A tragic start to the school day for students of Balata College today after the death of a Year 9 student.
14 year old Eliki Delai died at Davota in Tavua after he slipped from a moving bus.
“The victim was a passenger in a bus travelling from Waikubukubu to Tavua town after 7am. When they reached a drop off point for students of another school, he disembarked the bus to allow the passengers to get off at their stop,” said Fiji Police.
“It is alleged that when the bus started to move, the victim whilst trying to board slipped and was run over by the bus causing serious injury.”
His body was conveyed to the Tavua Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem examination.
Delai was a prolific soccer player and a member of the under 14 Tavua soccer team.
