Bakaniceva leads side

DIGICEL Young Kulas newly-named skipper Adi Litia Bakaniceva knows the next few weeks will be a test of character for her under-19 side when the OFC Women’s Under-19 Championship kicks off tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Known for her leadership skills and formidable presence on the field, Bakaniceva is determined to lead her team to success in the championship.
“I know that the competition will not be easy, but I am ready to do my best for my country and lead the Young Kulas,” the Vunimono, Tailevu lass shared.
The 19-year-old developed a passion for football from a very young age while attending Vunimono Islamia School in Nausori.
Now representing Rewa, she made her debut with the district team Tailevu Naitasiri at 10 years old, before climbing the ranks to the national women’s side as a 15-year-old, and now the national
under-19 side.
“I’ve always had a passion for soccer because my father (Maika Bakaniceva) used to tell me stories of how he used to play soccer in his younger days.”
Playing at midfield, Bakaniceva hopes to be a role model to her players as they commence into the competition.
