Both the defence and prosecution will present written submissions in the case of former prime minister Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended police commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho.

Magistrate Seini Puamau has adjourned the case to October 12.

Defence lawyer Devanesh Sharma said he would make a written submission in light of the passing of Acting Director of Public Prosecution Ratu David Toganivalu.

For the State, Nimisha Shankar, associate of the acting DPP, has taken over the case.

Magistrate Puamau will go over the submissions from both the defence and the State over the weekend.

A minute of silence was also observed in court yesterday to remember the life of Ratu David.
