A heavy rain warning is now active and will be impacting the whole of the Fiji group, says Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services Department of Meteorology Climate Services Division principal climatologist Samisoni Waqavakatoga.

Mr Waqavakatoga said a strong wind warning is also in force for all the land areas and waters of Fiji.

“Coastal Inundation Alert in force, particularly Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Viti Levu (Natadola through Coral Coast to Navua), Kadavu and nearby smaller islands Moala and the southern Lau Group,” he said.

Mr Waqavakatoga said mariners can expect rough to very rough seas to continue until late Wednesday.

“From Wednesday onwards, generally fine weather is expected over most places, with only brief showers over windward (southeastern) areas at times due to lingering southeast trade flow.”

Motorists are also urged to exercise caution when driving.
