Tara’s Supermarket has committed $3000 to support the 2025 Tailevu Rugby Union 10s tournament, becoming the major sponsor of one of the province’s biggest grassroots rugby events.
The sponsorship includes $2500 in cash and $500 in-kind support, marking a significant show of confidence in the newly elected Tailevu Rugby Union executive, led by president Joseph Rodan snr.
In a press release yesterday, managing director of Taras Supermarket, Amish Patel, said the partnership reflects their long-standing commitment to the people of Tailevu.
“For over four decades, Taras Supermarket has proudly served the people of Nausori and the wider Tailevu Province,” he said.
He described the 10s tournament as more than just a competition, calling it a movement rooted in community, unity, and opportunity, with both men’s and women’s teams taking part.
“Rugby in Tailevu is not just a sport, it is an identity,” he said.
TRU president Joseph Rodan Snr said the sponsorship came at a critical time as the new executive had just finalised its 2025–2030 business plan.
“All our subcommittees are now aligned with the same vision and goals for grassroots development,” he said.
Rodan added the union will give all sponsors exposure through social media and official communications, highlighting the partnership as a shared journey.
“We see this not just as a sponsorship, but as a mutual partnership that strengthens both community spirit and business visibility,” he said.
The union also acknowledge Hussain Tabaraki Bread Shop, Glamada Investments, Be Pro Marketing, Veivueti Taxi and Nausori Meats.
TRU Club Games chairman Malakai Yamaivava thanked Taras Supermarket for its support, saying it helps bring their development goals to life.
