VINOD Patel Ba Rugby is stepping up preparations for a tough opening-round clash against Suva in the Skipper Cup Competition on Saturday at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Ba Rugby secretary Gabby Kautoga said preparations are progressing well, with the coaching staff working hard to address areas that let the side down in their previous encounter against Suva.
“Preparation for the Suva game is going on well and our coaching staff are working very hard. This is our fourth time playing Suva and we are working on our set pieces and errors from our last game against Suva last year,” Kautoga said.
Kautoga knows the challenge that awaits, but believes Ba can give the hosts a strong contest.
“We will give Suva a good game. We know that Suva is a big team and we are working on our discipline, which is so critical this season.”
The match will also provide an opportunity for several young Ba players to make their Skipper Cup debuts after impressing during the club competition.
“The boys are excited as a few boys will have their debut in the Skipper Cup this year. We have picked these boys from our club games and we believe in them to play and execute well on such a platform,” Kautoga added.
Kautoga has also called on Ba supporters to turn out in numbers and rally behind the team.
“We are requesting all our fans to come in numbers and cheer for our women, junior and senior teams in Suva.”
Ba will be looking to make a strong start to its Skipper Cup campaign when it takes on Suva on Saturday.
