The Acton Fiji-sponsored Ba Futsal side was awarded $1500 prize money for winning the 2021 Digicel Futsal League Western title last week at Fiji FA Academy in Ba.
The ‘Men In Black’ earned 40 points in the competition after playing 15 matches in which they won 13, lost one and drew one.
Deepesh Pawan’s men had an impressive run all season, scoring the most goals and conceding the least in the league.
Ba Futsal team manager Jyeshnal Prasad said it was a history for Ba.
“This is our first title win after playing in the competition for the past five years,” said Prasad.
“It is a very proud moment for the people of our football-crazy town.”
Prasad said the feat was made possible through the hard work and dedication of their players and all officials.
“I thank all the players and officials for the effort shown throughout the season.
“I heartily thank our sponsors Acton and its director Sanjesh Kumar for the support in making our team the best this season.”
The side now sets its sight on the Digicel Futsal Inter-District Championship which is scheduled to commence next month.
Nadi finished second on the points table standing with 35 points, Lautoka ended on third position with 23, Rakiraki with 14, Nadroga finished at fifth place with nine points and Tavua sat on the bottom of the table with eight points.
