Ba Sangam College has been crowned the U17 champion of the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship after a determined campaign in Labasa.
The side, coached by Prashneil Kumar, completed its title-winning run after overcoming Labasa Muslim College 4-1 in a penalty shootout.
Kumar said the team’s success was built on hard work, belief and the commitment shown by his players throughout the tournament.
“I always have the belief in my players. I knew my players would deliver,” Kumar said.
He said the players had remained committed despite a demanding schedule, with some having to play several matches in a day.
“Nothing replaces hard work, and our boys have really worked hard,” he said.
Kumar said he was proud of the players for continuing to give their best despite the physical demands of the competition.
“I am so proud of the boys. They have been playing three games in a day. Sometimes they have to play back-to-back four games,” he said.
The coach also acknowledged the support from the players’ families, teachers and staff, dedicating the team’s success to those who had supported them from home.
The U17 triumph adds another highlight to Ba Sangam College’s campaign at the championship, with the players’ hard work rewarded with the national title.
