BA heads into tomorrow’s’s Bic Fiji FACT semi-final against Labasa Football Club with one thing on its mind –redemption.
After losing their opening match against Lautoka 0-2 last week – the humbling experience served as a reality check for the local football giants.
But despite that setback, Ba Football Club fought back strongly in their remaining pool matches to book a place in the final four, keeping alive their hopes of adding another Fiji FACT title to their rich history.
Ba Football Club president Praneel Dayal said the side had put the defeat behind them and shifted their focus fully to the knockout battle.
“The team is preparing well. They have been training this week in Labasa, the morale is high and we are looking forward to the match,” Dayal said.
Dayal admitted Lautoka had exposed weaknesses in their first encounter but believes his players have learned from it.
“The competition was tough. We knew Lautoka would come fighting and they managed to defeat us. Our game plan was there but somehow; we did not make it. But the other two matches we won convincingly.”
With the pressure mounting from Ba’s passionate football supporters, Dayal said the squad had been working hard mentally and physically to stay composed.
“A tournament is always a rollercoaster with ups and downs. But getting to a semi-final is important. The boys have left that loss behind.”
With history favouring Ba in big-match situations and confidence steadily rebuilding, today’s semi-final promises fireworks as the Men in Black chase revenge – and a place in the final.
