DAYALS Steels Ba president Praneel Dayal has called on the thousands of Ba supporters to rally behind the team as the Men in Black chase a place in the Extra Battle of the Giants final at home today.
Ba faces Global Care Suva in the first semi-final at 2pm at 4R Stadium at Govind Park, with the Men in Black hoping to continue a remarkable season under Dayal’s leadership.
Ba has already secured two major titles this season, winning the Fiji FACT and the Extra Premier League, and now has its sights firmly set on a third piece of silverware.
Dayal said the team would not take its achievements for granted as it prepares for the crucial semi-final.
“We have two trophies to our name this season, but I promise you this, I take none of it for granted. Success isn’t a gift, it’s earned every single day,” Dayal said.
The Ba president said the values instilled in him by his father through the family business, Dayals Sawmillers, had shaped his approach to leadership and were now being carried into his work with the football team.
“My father’s teaching led to my own success at Dayals Sawmillers. He showed me that true success comes from relentless hard work, humility, and staying loyal to your roots.”
Those principles, Dayal said, remained at the heart of Ba as the side prepares to face a strong Suva outfit.
The occasion will also be significant for the Ba faithful, with their team playing in front of its home supporters and just one victory away from another major final.
Dayal believes the black jersey represents more than football, carrying the pride, history and identity of the Ba community.
“This badge isn’t just fabric. It’s the heartbeat of our community, our history, and our pride. When the boys step out tomorrow in that black shirt, they carry the soul of every single one of you,” he said.
With a place in the final at stake, Dayal has urged Ba supporters to make their presence felt from the stands.
“Stand loud with us tomorrow. Let’s bring this home together.” .
For Ba, the challenge is clear, defeat Suva today and take another step towards a third title in what has already been a memorable season for the Men in Black.
