AN Australian-based film-maker is set to shoot a movie in the country next week.
Titled Sahara, the movie is about a poverty-stricken family evicted from their farm and forced to resettle in a squatter settlement. Film-maker and CEO of Studio Raivision in New South Wales Dr Satish Rai said while the movie was an independent one, they had also liaised with authorities concerned in the country for its production.
“It’s a movie that has a series of stories about how the struggling family endured all the hardships, including some wrong choices for the sake of living,” Dr Rai said.
“While it’s a sad story, it’s also an interesting one to watch because the message behind it is all about support and love for one another. The movie also portrays a message of trust and care for one another.
“We are looking at engaging about 20 locals to cast in the movie and also some of my overseas colleagues. The movie is expected to begin next Tuesday and we are all excited about it.”
Dr Rai said this would be a fully-featured film.
“The production has been well-researched and it is expected to be one hour and 20 minutes long,” he said
Line producer Ashfaaq Khan said the movie would be shot at various locations, mainly between Ba and Suva.
