MINISTER for Education Aseri Radrodro has urged schools to use assessment results to identify learning gaps and provide targeted support to students, saying student learning remains the ministry’s main priority.
Speaking at the 43rd Fiji Head Teachers Association’s annual conference in Nadi yesterday, he said the 2026 Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LANA) had been conducted, with results expected to provide further insight into student performance.
He said changes were also being made to the national examination system, with scaling of marks to begin in 2026 following a Cabinet decision. The Year 8 Examination will be held in week five of Term Three, and heads of schools were urged to ensure students are well prepared through completion of teaching programs and additional support for those struggling.
Mr Radrodro said scaling would form part of the assessment process, but students must still demonstrate learning.
