In a gripping 2024 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl netball competition, Army emerged victorious against Police, securing a hard-fought 43-38 win at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva yesterday.
The match was an intense battle from start to finish, with both teams showcasing impressive skills and determination.
Army’s vice-captain, Kalesi Tawake, reflected on the victory, acknowledging the strong challenge posed by their opponents.
“We knew Police would come out firing. They (Police) have experienced players, both former and current, so we were prepared for a tough game,” Tawake shared.
Despite the formidable opposition, Army held their ground, demonstrating resilience and teamwork honed over their two years of playing together.
The crowd’s energy added to the intense atmosphere, making it difficult for players to communicate on the court.
“The crowd got into our heads at times, and we struggled to hear each other, especially between the sideline and our shooters,” Tawake explained.
“We were not going to leave the court without a victory,” Tawake stated.
The team’s success was a culmination of rigorous preparation, strong leadership support, and the encouragement of their families.
Meanwhile, in the Ratu Sukuna Bowl rugby competition, the two forces collide at 3pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
