ARMY Bears continued their impressive run in the Vodafone Fiji Cup, defeating Nabua Broncos 28 – 12 in their round three clash at Bidesi Ground yesterday.

The soldiers produced another clinical performance, combining solid defence with sharp attacking execution to register their third consecutive victory of the campaign and remain among the competition’s early frontrunners.

Army established control through disciplined play and strong combinations, keeping Nabua under pressure for most of the contest before closing out the match with a comfortable 16-point margin.

Acting team manager Esita Batiniqila praised the team’s start to the season but admitted there were still plenty of work to do despite the unbeaten record.

“So far, the team has performed exceptionally well. However, there is still room for improvement,” she said.

Batiniqila noted that with several rounds still remaining before the elimination stage, the side’s focus remains on continual improvement and building stronger combinations within the squad.

“The fitness is there. We are trying to improve how well the players know each other on the field and work on some technical areas within the team,” she said.

“There are no hidden tactics. The main thing is for the players to trust each other and maintain discipline both on and off the field.”

With three wins from as many matches, the Army Bears will now turn their attention to round four as they continue their charge towards the Vodafone Fiji Cup elimination stages.
