Members of the public have been advised that applications for the Hardship Assistance Scholarship Scheme (tuition only) will open from today.
In a statement, the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) stated this was approved in the 2023/2024 National Budget.
“A total of 2600 awards are available for tuition only Hardship Assistance Scholarship Scheme for approved higher education level seven programs at an eligible higher education institution,” the statement read.
The scheme will assist private students with good quality pass rates to complete their chosen programs on time.
Application forms can be downloaded from the TSLS website and complete application must be emailed to hardshipassistance@tsls.com.fj Applications close on September 29.
The eligibility to apply for this scheme is as follows:
- Be a Fiji citizen.
- Be ordinarily resident in Fiji for at least three years before the award commencement date, unless determined by the board or delegated authority on a case-by-case basis.
- Be a second-year onward student with cumulative GPA equivalent to 65 per cent of the total grade point.
- Be enrolled for higher education level seven programs at an eligible higher education institution.
- Submit program audit clearly indicating successful completion of one year of study as per full load requirement.
- Not have a combined parental income or business net worth of more than $100,000 unless allowed by means testing.
