Getting the basics right will be the primary focus for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians when they face England in what is expected to be a sold-out match tomorrow morning at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool, England.
Despite dominating every aspect of the game against Wales last week, Fiji fell short on the scoreboard.
The disappointing result highlighted the Flying Fijians’ ability to challenge elite opponents but also exposed their need for clinical finishing to convert performance into points.
Interim head coach Senirusi Seruvakula remains confident that victory is within reach if his side executes the fundamentals effectively against England.
“We had some changes from last week’s game in the starting fifteen and I’m very confident in these boys that they will perform well,” he stated.
“We’ve learnt a lot from last week and we’ve worked on that during our preparations this week – so going into this competition any team is beatable if we do the little things right.”
Last week, England provided South Africa with a physical battle for much of the match but ultimately lost in the final quarter.
Seruvakula expects the same physical intensity from England on Sunday.
“They (England) are going to be very strong in the forwards, and we will need to prepare well in our defence and attacks and remain disciplined in the match,” he said.
With over ninety percent of tickets already sold, the Flying Fijians will host England tomorrow morning at 1.10am at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool, ready to deliver a memorable performance.
