AirBnB is an important part of tourism, said Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Brent Hill.

In an interview with the media at the Fiji Tourism Exchange on Tuesday this week, Mr Hill said there were certain parts of Fiji where hotels did not exist.

“If you think about places like the Suncoast or parts of the Coral Coast like Maui Bay for example, where we have a lot of AirBnB’s and we need that,” Mr Hill said.

“Savusavu for example, we need AirBnB out there.

“So when we have gaps, AirBnB can actually do a great job.

“And it also does well for short medium stay, sometimes people are coming over for two, three, four weeks, so AirBnB might be a better arrangement.

“So, I think it fits in really nicely to the mix of what we have and its not impacting on our hotel properties.”
