The respect we show to women reflects the overall well-being and culture of our society, said Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations, Agni Deo Singh.
He made the comments while delivering his address at the Kuku Navyuak Sangam Temple in Nausori last night.
“The respect we show to women reflects the overall well-being and culture of our society,” he said.
“It is contradictory to worship goddesses while overlooking the ‘Laxmi’ (goddess) in our homes.”
He also highlighted the importance of preserving culture and religious activity.
“We must remember and respect our forefathers for their sacrifices and vision, especially their dedication to education, even in tough times.”
“Preserving our mother tongue, Hindi, is vital to our identity.”
“I encourage all parents to motivate their children to learn Hindi, as it is essential for understanding our religion and culture, especially since it is the language of our sacred texts.
Mr Singh urged all present to engage in religious activities and for their children to do the same.
“Our cultural and religious legacy is a ‘dharohar,’ a treasure that we must pass down and enrich for future generations.”
“Similarly, it is crucial that we apply the knowledge gained from our religious teachings in our daily lives, shaping our interactions with one another and our communities.”
