Accident lands 5 in hospital

POLICE have confirmed that five people were rushed to the Nadi and Lautoka hospitals following two separate road accidents on Monday.

Spokesperson Wame Bautolu said the first accident occurred at Nabou while the second took place along the Nadi Back Road.

“On Monday at around 6am at Nabou, a 24-year-old female was heading towards Lautoka from Suva with a 26-year-old male when she lost control of the vehicle and it collided with the road railings,” he said.

Mr Bautolu said both were rushed to the Nadi Hospital where they were in stable condition.

“Later in the afternoon around 5pm at the Nausori Highland junction, a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old driver of Korovuto, Nadi, while travelling with a 13-year-old and a five-year-old, collided with another oncoming vehicle.”

Mr Bautolu said the three were rushed to the Nadi Hospital and the driver was then transferred to the Lautoka Aspen Hospital where he is recovering.
