TWO people died yesterday morning after an accident along Wailoaloa Rd in Nadi.

Director Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana said initial information gathered pointed to alleged speeding and alcohol use as the possible cause.

Police said the two who passed away were passengers in a vehicle driven by a 30-year-old from Lovu, Lautoka.

“It is alleged that the suspect whilst trying to overtake another car had lost control resulting in the accident,” a statement from police said.

“As a result, the two men died, while the remaining three were rushed to the Nadi Hospital as they sustained serious injuries.”

Investigations are continuing.
