PROVINCIAL offices and village headmen should have access to the registration list of sex offenders.
This issue was made known at the public consultation of the Registration of the Sex Offenders Bill 2018 held in Savusavu yesterday.
Natewa villager Nemani Draveisau said village headmen and the provincial council offices should have access to the register.
This, Mr Draveisau said would allow the headmen to monitor the movement of sex offenders in the village.
The law makers, he said did not live in villages to be affected by sexual related cases villagers have faced.
Many sexual related cases, he said were reported from rural areas including villages and to better protect the villagers, headmen and provincial council offices should also have access to the register.
Committee deputy chairperson Rohit Sharma assured that his submission has been noted.
