MORE than 230 people in 35 households in Koroboya Village, Qaliyalatina District, Ba, now have easier access to essential services following the completion of the Koroboya Village Access Road.
The $47,500 project was commissioned this week by Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mosese Bulitavu.
Implemented by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management under the Community Access Roads, Footpaths and Footbridges (CARFF) Program, the project is expected to ease transport challenges and improve movement for families and farmers in the community.
For local farmers, the upgraded road provides a safer and more reliable route for transporting produce to markets, helping them reduce the difficulties and costs associated with poor road access.
Koroboya Village women’s group leader Aluesi Nainoka said the road would particularly benefit women who depended on farming to support their families.
“This road will really help us women because we can now take our farm produce to the Ba market much more easily,” Ms Nainoka said.
She said improved road access would also make it easier for children to travel to school.
“Our children no longer have to walk more than one kilometre every day just to catch the nearest transport to go to school. This road has made things much easier for our families.”
