OPPOSITION Leader and Social Democratic Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka emphasised the importance of self-reflection on Christmas. Mr Rabuka said Christmas was also a time to celebrate the selfless acts and sacrifice of all who have gone.

“As a devoted Christian, my message to our people is drawn from the Gospel of John chapter 1, verse 5: ‘The light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it.’

“As we celebrate the birth of Christ, let us also celebrate the selfless acts and sacrifice of all who have gone before us. We should reflect on values of love, service, and compassion. I believe, through this, the light will continue to shine and overshadow darkness”

Mr Rabuka says people must not be discouraged, but rather, be inspired to try harder in bridging the gap through our good deeds.

“We must continue to be thankful to those in our society who bring love and happiness in our daily lives and look for ways of spreading that love to others wherever and whenever we can.”
