More than 100 tourists embraced the new year in an unforgettable way with a memorable journey to Fiji’s picturesque Namosi Highlands.

The turnout marked the beginning of what promises to be an exciting year for the Jewel of Fiji Day Tour in Navua, with tourists eager to experience the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Fiji.

Setoki Toka, fondly known as “Scott” among visitors, manages the Jewel of Fiji Day Tour.

His enthusiasm for the event was palpable as he reflected on the bustling start to the year.

Mr Toka said the tourists arrived on a cruise liner that docked at Suva Harbour on new year’s morning, making for a smooth transition into the day’s activities.

“We had two groups of tourists,” Mr Toka explained.

“The first group, from the cruise, focused on visiting the village. They got to immerse themselves in the cultural practices and traditions of a typical Fijian village.”

For the visitors, this immersion into the authentic Fijian lifestyle was a highlight of their journey.

Mr Toka described the experience as “a perfect way for them to start the year”, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the local community and learn about Fiji’s rich cultural heritage. The second group of tourists, mainly from the United States, came from the Pearl Resort.

Their experience was a blend of culture and adventure, designed to offer a deeper connection to both Fiji’s traditional roots and its breathtaking landscapes.

This group enjoyed a visit to the village, followed by an adventurous trek to a stunning waterfall and a bamboo rafting excursion down the tranquil Raiwaqa River.

“The combination of cultural immersion and outdoor adventure truly offered something for everyone,” Mr Toka said.

As the tour ended, Mr Toka was filled with optimism for what lies ahead in 2025.

January alone promises to be a busy month, with the Jewel of Fiji Day Tour already set to welcome approximately eight cruise ships in addition to regular bookings.

“For this month alone, we have about eight cruise ships lined up, apart from our normal bookings,” he said.

“I am optimistic about this coming year and cannot wait to see what this month brings.”

The growing popularity of the Namosi Highlands as a key tourist destination not only provides visitors with an unforgettable experience but also offers a glimpse into Fiji’s vibrant culture and stunning natural beauty. As tourism continues to thrive, tours like the one led by Mr Toka will undoubtedly play a key role in showcasing Fiji to the world, offering a truly immersive experience for travellers from all corners of the globe.

With a busy year ahead, Mr Toka and his team remain committed to delivering unique, enriching experiences that will continue to attract visitors to Fiji’s breathtaking landscapes, ensuring that the Jewel of Fiji Day Tour remains a top choice for those seeking to explore the heart of Fiji’s culture and nature.
