TEAM Fiji’s preparations for next month’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, received a timely boost yesterday following the handover of Rexona hygiene care packs by the Motibhai Group at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) office in Suva.

The presentation saw athletes from athletics, boxing, swimming, and lawn bowls receive the care packs as they entered the final stages of preparations for the Games, which will run from July 23 to August 2.

Chef de Mission Ajay Ballu thanked Motibhai Group for its continued backing of Team Fiji and acknowledged the important role corporate partners play in supporting athletes on the road to major international competitions.

“Motibhai has always been behind us. They’ve been a partner with FASANOC for a long time, and they continue to support us, which is good,” Ballu said.

“I hope they continue to support us even more going forward with our Games coming later this year and next year.”

Ballu said the care packs would help athletes and officials remain focused as they prepare for competition.

“These products are actually supporting the athletes’ and officials’ performance-wise, contributing to preparation and allowing them to focus on the task ahead,” he said.

The handover comes as Team Fiji finalizes its campaign for Glasgow, where a 58-member delegation comprising athletes and officials will compete across eight sports: athletics, para-athletics, basketball 3×3, boxing, lawn bowls, judo, swimming, and weightlifting.

With less than a month remaining before the opening ceremony, Ballu said the team was determined to represent Fiji with pride while upholding the values associated with the Commonwealth Games.

“Team Fiji will focus on delivering performances that will make our nation proud while showcasing the values of excellence, friendship, and respect on the international stage,” he said.

Ballu also welcomed the opportunity to partner with a globally recognised brand through Motibhai Group.

“We are greatly privileged to be part of them and to promote this Rexona product. Not only in Fiji, but we will also do it as we go into Scotland and wherever else we go.”

Motibhai Group has also committed to supporting Team Fiji through a multi-year partnership, reinforcing its investment in the growth and development of Fijian sport.

As athletes enter the final stretch of their journey to Glasgow, the donation serves as another reminder of the community and corporate support backing Team Fiji’s campaign on the Commonwealth stage.
