Update: 2:49PM EMPOWERMENT of youths is one of the key priorities of the Fijian Government, said Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar at the University of the South Pacific campus last Saturday evening.
Ms Akbar made these comments while speaking at the Eid
celebrations organised by the Islamic Society that was attended by 150 USP
students.
“As such
young people now more than ever are given prominence under Fiji’s
Constitution, with the lowering of the voting age to 18 years, it ensures that
more young people have the opportunity to contribute towards national
development,” Ms Akbar said.
“The Fijian Government has also approved a National Youth
Policy in 2012. Cabinet recently endorsed the revised National Youth Policy,” she said.
Ms Akbar also motivated the students to work hard and
aspire to reach to their maximum potential.
