THE Fiji Sports Commission came on board to help Fiji Rugby Union in their Rugby World Cup preparation.
Commission chairman Peter Mazey handed a cheque for $200, 000 to the Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer Radrodro Tabualevu at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on Saturday.
Radrodro said the funds had come at a right time.
“It is a good start in the Pacific Nations Cup and with this it would help us,” he said.
“This is just the start towards our five million budgets.”
Mazey has asked the people to come forward and help the team.
“We are asking the people of Fiji come forward and contribute in the $200000. If 200 people comes forward and give $1 each then we would be able to get $200 000.
The Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee said he was thankful to the commission.
“Our Rugby World Cup campaign is an expensive business as we have to bring in the players together. This would help us in our preparation.”
