The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) will convene its first biannual forum for 2026 today.
The two-day gathering will bring together chiefs and representatives from Fiji’s 14 provinces and Rotuma to deliberate on key developments and progress reports from its Sub-Committees since the previous meeting in November last year.
Updates are expected from Sub-Committees overseeing education and cultural revitalisation, community resilience and stakeholder engagement.
At last year’s forum, chiefs expanded dialogue on village-level resilience, urging communities to better target development funds to build long-term social and economic strength.
