RAW beauty of the Vatu-i-Ra seascape is now being exhibited by artists at the Fiji Museum.

Wildlife Conservation Society communications officer Dwain Qalovaki said the first day of the exhibition had over 600 people witness artist’s impression of the Vatu-i-Ra Seascape which covered both, the land and sea of the provinces of Tailevu, Ra, Lomaiviti and Bua.

“We had some primary schools around Suva turning up at the museum to watch this exhibition,” Mr Qalovaki said.

He added established artists taking part in the exhibition included Irami Buli, Mason Lee and Reapi Blyde.

“The whole concept is to showcase the biodiversity of the Vatu-i-Ra seascape, something that was started about six months ago when we sat with artists.

“We want people to have a better understanding of what is in the Vatu-i-Ra seascape.

“The art and photo exhibition is collaboration between over 30 emerging and established Fijian artists.”

The public exhibition is free of charge until today and it encourages Fijians to explore the future of our environment through art and underwater photography.

The Vatu-i-Ra seascape is a campaign to build public support for the protection of land and sea between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, encompassing the provinces of Bua, Tailevu, Ra and Lomaiviti.
