ROC market livens up Capital City

LOFTUS St in Suva outside Dolphin Plaza was full of hype as 67 vendors participated in the ROC market yesterday.

The event is held on the third Sunday of every month featuring stalls selling homemade food and art and craft at reasonable prices.

ROC market organiser Peter Sipeli said the market day had a nice collection of art and craft and had to be responsive to the community needs.

According to Mr Sipeli, the prices of the items sold at the ROC market had a wide spectrum.

“Handmade things are different from factory products and its full of peoples ideas, its creativity; so I think handmade products must be a little more expensive,” Mr Sipeli said.

Louisa Bryson Mohammed said: “It’s rewarding to see people appreciate my work and it’s also rewarding for them.”

She said for a market day, she usually got $500 for pot plants only and about $1000 for both pot plants and handicraft items.
