REWA Football Club were crowned champions of the Extra Premier League after a hard-fought match against Suva that ended in a 0-0 draw, which was held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Sunday.
The Delta Tigers also have secured their spot in the OFC Champions League 2026, with one match still left in the season for the team to showcase their dominance once again.
President of Rewa Football Club, Nazeel Buksh, couldn’t conceal his immense pride as the club secured their first-ever consecutive Extra Premier League title.
He described it as a very proud moment for Rewa, marking the first time the club has won the Extra Premier League title back-to-back.
“This is the first time we have won a back-to-back league title, a big congrats to the whole of Rewa District, the fans the players, families, everyone played a big role in looking after this team,” said Buksh.
He adds the consistency displayed by the players throughout the season was commendable, especially considering the challenges they faced, including playing the most matches in a single season.
“We have sacrificed a lot throughout the year, the team just stuck together, and we believe in ourselves and finally we got back-to-back.
“That just shows how consistent the team has been; in maintaining this team throughout the year, players have been performing as a unit throughout the year.
“Despite playing the greatest number of matches, in a single season, going to Solomons then playing in the champions League, and still coming right on top is a huge achievement for Rewa district itself.”
Buksh expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the team’s success and wished the team luck in the upcoming IDC tournament.
