A 23-YEAR-OLD man has died following a road accident in Suva yesterday.
The businessman, a Fijian of Indian decent, died after the vehicle he was driving veered off road and hit a coconut tree at Nasese, Suva.
Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri, in a statement, said the man’s vehicle allegedly overtook another as they were passing Corpus Christi Teachers College yesterday morning.
Both were travelling towards the Muanikau Community Post along Queen Elizabeth Drive.
“The 23-year-old (allegedly) lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road, hitting a coconut tree, due to the impact, he died instantly,” Insp Sokomuri said.
He said another 23-year-old man, a passenger, was rushed to the CWM Hospital for treatment.
While police investigations continue, Insp Sokomuri has once again called on drivers to drive safely.
