Fiji Water Flying Fijians prop Peni Ravai is the only injury concern in the squad as Fiji prepares to take on Scotland in their second test match this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Head coach Mick Byrne confirmed the experienced front rower is being monitored after picking up an arm injury during their 22-18 loss to the Wallabies in New Castle last Sunday.
“You’ve probably seen him walking around with his arm in a sling,” Byrne said.
“He’s in a bit of trouble, so we might need to get a scan. At this stage, he’s probably a question mark. But I think it’s everyone else is good, as you saw everyone’s out here training today”
The rest of the team came through the match unscathed and were all present during their first training session at the National Hockey Turf in Suva yesterday.
Despite the short turnaround, Byrne said the players are showing strong energy and are eager to get back out on the field.
“They’re excited. They’re very disappointed, they’re gutted, but they’re not traumatised or mentally pressured by the game,” Byrne said.
“They’re excited to know that what they tried to do on the weekend, when they got it right, it looked good. We scored some good tries. We defended really well.”
Byrne is also expecting a fierce challenge from Scotland, who edged the Maori All Blacks 29-26 in Whangarei last weekend.
“They’re very aggressive around the breakdown. Scotland’s physicality hasn’t changed. They play great rugby, so we know we’ll have to be on our guard.”
Saturday’s match will the 13th time these two teams will take to the filed, and Fiji has only won twice.
Meanwhile, kick-off is at 3pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.
