A double by John Orobulu saw Rewa football beat Labasa 2-1 and surge to the top of the table in round 11 of the Extra Premier League yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Orobulu put the Delta Tigers in the lead in the 30th minute and they held on to this to lead 1-0 after halftime.
Rewa maintained its momentum in the second half and Orobulu was again the man for the job as he scored his second for a comfortable lead.
Labasa star striker Christopher Wasasala pulled one back from the penalty spot but it came too late for the Babasiga Lions as time was not on their side.
Rewa’s coach and player, Tevita Waranivalu, commended his team for their hard work and dedication throughout the week leading up to the match.
“We came to this game we had a plan, and I want to thank the boys as they executed the plan very well today.
“The message to the boys was to take us back to the Fiji FACT final where we lost against Labasa, how does it feel and now getting the win here is amazing and a great revenge for the boys,” he said.
The coach expressed his gratitude towards the fans, families, and supporters who came out in numbers to cheer on the team.
