THE Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) will host two consecutive workshops this month on Evidence Based Thinking, facilitated by Professor Keith Houghton.

This will mark the return of Prof Houghton, who had facilitated a similar workshop last year, according to a statement from FICA.

“Last year, places sold out quickly. The number of places must be strictly limited so that each participant was able to fully benefit from the workshop,” FICA stated, adding that space was limited to 25 c-suite participants.”

“Professor Houghton has been a long-time friend of Fiji.

“Over several years, during the 1990s and 2000s, he contributed both to the universities in Fiji and the work of FICA.”

According to FICA, participants will learn the following from the workshop:

Ask better questions:

Everyone knows how to ask questions, but are you crafting the right questions to support success?

Critical evaluation of evidence:

Being able to make decisions with valid and relevant evidence is a key management decision tool.

Making decisions:

What sources of information can you really rely on? What is credible evidence? How do I evaluate the advice of others?

Assess credible response:

Learn how to assess when an answer you are provided with is not credible.

The workshops will be held at Suva’s Holiday Inn on June 18 and Nadi’s Nalagi Hotel on June 24.
