THE Ministry of Youth and Sports has been allocated $23.4million for the 2025-2026 financial year.
The Ministry received the same allocation in the 2024-2025 national budget.
In the budget, $5,380,435.00 has been allocated for overseas sporting tours, $3,913,044 for hosting international tournaments and $1.9m for the engagement of sports coaches.
$1.4million has been given for the upgrade of sports grounds
Minister of Finance Biman Prasad did not announce this allocation during his budget address in Parliament but stated that enough was allocated to the ministry.
“There is enough funding for the Ministry of Youth and Sports and if there are any additional requirements during the year then there are provisions where we can provide additional funding for them,” he said.
$978,216 was allocated for the construction of hard courts
The government has also allocated $1,076,087 to the Fiji National Sports Commission, $670,000 to the Fiji Sports Council and $195, 652 for short-term experts.
Sports Grants for Persons with Disabilities was given $195, 652, the same amount was allocated for Community Sports Association.
The Boxing Commission of Fiji and the National Anti-Doping Organisation each get $48,913.
$185,870.00 is for Sports Scholarships and $244,565 for Sports Outreach Programs.
