Top two snooker players of Fiji, Sahil Prasad and Jitendra Prasad are eagerly looking forward to participating in the 2025 Commonwealth Billard & Snooker Championship in Port Louis, Mauritius.

This will be their first time competing on such an international stage, alongside 72 other Commonwealth nations.

The President of the Fiji Snooker national, Keshwan Nadan, expressed his excitement about this opportunity for the players.

He believes that it reflects the growing recognition of their skills and efforts in the sport.

“This is an incredible opportunity for us, one that reflects the growing recognition of our players, our efforts and our vision,” said Nadan.

“For our A-grade players, this is a golden opportunity to represent our beloved country on the world stage.

“It provides them with international exposer, top-level competition and the experience needed to continue elevating their game.

He adds this exposure will not only benefit the players but will also help in elevating the status of snooker as a sport in Fiji.

“We all know that Snooker is still considered a minor sport in Fiji, but moments like this show us that great things are possible.

“A time will come when Fiji’s snooker players will not only participate in global championships but proudly represent us at major regional events like the South Pacific Games.

“We look forward to competing in Mauritius with honour, humility, and the true spirit of Fijian sportsmanship.”

The team is set to depart tomorrow for Mauritius, with the competition scheduled to take place from July 2-6.
