Junior police officers from constable level and above will receive a salary progression payout in this week’s civil servants pay cycle, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed.

He said this was not a pay rise, but a salary progression that officers were entitled to based on their annual performance reports.

Mr Tudravu added the performance exercise is conducted every two years and that the money to be paid out this week is already budgeted for within the current financial year.

He also confirmed the progression payout has already been processed for civilian staff and senior officers, including assistant commissioners.

“I had directed that the payout of the progression be facilitated first for the junior officers,” said Mr Tudravu.

“But facilitating their payouts took longer as they were more in numbers so the option was to facilitate the civilian and senior cadre as they were less in numbers.”

He added the Fiji Police Force wanted to formalise the progression pay before the end of the current financial year.
