A gale warning is now in force for Northern Lau group, with winds up to 55km/hr, increasing to damaging gale force winds of up to 65km/hr with gusts to 80km/hr from later today.
The Nadi weather office states an active trough of low pressure with cloud, rain and thunderstorms affects most parts of Fiji.
It is moving eastwards and expected to clear the Lau group from later tonight.
The Northen Lau group can expect periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.
Rain will start easing from later tonight.
Meanwhile, a heavy rain warning remains in force for interior and coastal areas of Southeastern parts of Viti Levu (Momi-Sigatoka, Navua, Suva, Rakiraki), Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Yasawa, Interior and Southern Parts of Vanua Levu (Southern Bua, Cakaudrove), Taveuni, Cikobia, Qelelevu, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
