Yoga has served as a cultural bridge between Fiji and India, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad.
Addressing the International Day for Yoga celebration in Suva yesterday, he said yoga was a symbol of shared values such as peace, unity, and inner strength.
“I am heartened to see yoga gaining popularity among Fijians of all backgrounds,” Prof Prasad said.
“Here in Fiji, we are proud of our rich and vibrant multicultural society. The Indo-Fijian community has made enduring contributions to our cultural and social fabric, and yoga is one such gift that we cherish.”
To stay healthy, he advised Fijians to set aside time each day for physical activity.
“Everyone should give yoga a try. Even a few minutes a day can transform health and well-being.
“Let us each do our part to live more mindfully and promote peace, within ourselves and in our communities.”
