The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) will disconnect water supply for seven tenants if they do not settle their arrears.

TLTB said it has this week obtained court orders directing the tenants to pay their outstanding rent immediately or face disconnection of utilities.

These latest court rulings bring the total number of enforcement orders secured by TLTB to 16 since January 2025, involving rental arrears totalling approximately $63,000.00.

“Collecting rental income is not just a financial obligation; it is our legal duty to the landowners,” said CEO Solomone Nata.

“We’ve taken a fair and transparent approach—issuing multiple arrears notices, conducting community awareness, and offering flexible payment plans.”

“Unfortunately, when these efforts fail, legal action becomes necessary.”

Mr. Nata also acknowledged concerns raised by the Human Rights & Anti-Discrimination Commission.

“We have ensured due process at every step, and the Commission is satisfied with the measures we’ve taken. Our focus remains on empowering landowners and enforcing lease conditions fairly and lawfully.”
