KINGS Boxing Promotions promoter Nahroon Buksh is expecting a full house when his July 19 event takes place at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Preparations are going well according to Buksh who has taken lessons from promotions in the past.
Organising a boxing event is not new for Kings Boxing as they have been around the local scene for a number of years.
After a short hiatus, Buksh is back to promote the sport of boxing with a fight card that signals a major event.
“It feels very good. I think boxing must go up in the country and bringing this calibre of fights will create more opportunities for the upcoming boxers and we hope to do more in the future.
“I have booked Vodafone Arena and together with that the tickets have been outsourced to TicketMate. Those who are intending to buy at the gates can do so. After the official launching, we will be doing full time promotion, now
we have announced all the fights and things are looking good,” Buksh said.
Taking lessons from previous boxing events, the promoter assured that incidents of the past will not be repeated.
“All the boxers will undergo drug tests. This is compulsory for us. An ambulance and a doctor will be on standby; we do not want a repeat of what transpired before. We want to do things in a perfect way,” he assured.
10 professional bouts are on the cards with three titles up for grabs.
This includes the WBA Oceania title, the NZPBC Oriental Pacific Super featherweight and the BCF heavyweight title.
“We managed to secure WBA and that’s a very big body. We are also getting a New Zealand title, NZPBC title so we’ve got three titles on the line. The fighters like Runqi Zhou, he is well known, he has already fought in Saudi
Arabia, so the promotion is very big, it’s a big event.”
The highlights of the event will be the bout between Runqi Zhou against Junior Binnu Singh as well as James Singh against Semi Dauloloma.
Mikaele Ravalaca will face Junior Raka for the NZPBC Oriental Pacific Super featherweight title after Ross Malthus was ruled out due to injury.
